Councillors
The Shire of Waroona is served by the President, and Deputy President, along with six other Elected Councillors who represent the interests of the whole Shire (there now being no designated Wards). The Councillors represent a diverse range of interests and provide a resource of community and business knowledge.
Cr. Mike Walmsley (Shire President)

Mike was originally elected to represent the West Ward in 2002 and in 2007 was re-elected for a further four (4) year term to represent the Shire of Waroona and was duly elected by his fellow Councillors as the Deputy Shire President in 2007 and Shire President in 2009 for a two year period. Mike has been a resident of Waroona his entire life and has come from a farming background. Mike is married to wife Donna with 4 young children. Mike enjoys farming life and spending leisure time with his family. Mike is interested in the progression of our Community and Shire and has a great belief in the Town of Waroona and feels that the Shire can look forward to an exciting future. |
Cr. Larry Scott (Deputy Shire President)

Larry has been a resident and successful business proprietor of the Waroona Pharmacy over 30 years, and also a property developer responsible for the local Robinson Estate. Larry over the years has been involved in many sporting and community groups and believes they all have their role in providing social and economic benefit to the community and thereby increase the attractiveness of the area to potential residents. Larry is keen to represent business, community groups and the community in general and was elected Deputy Shire President in 2009. |
Cr. Chris Germain

Chris was first elected to Council in 1992 as a Town Ward representative. Chris is an active community member and Councillor, involved with the Waroona Tourism Committee, Recreation Advisory Committee, Tidy Towns, State Emergency Service and a number of other committees/groups, in addition to her family responsibilities. |
Cr. Trish Witney JP

Trish was elected to the Town Ward in July 2005. Trish, husband Gary and family previously farmed in the Wheat Belt for many years, leaving Broad-Acre farming in 2002. Trish is currently the Community Resource Centre Co-ordinator at the Waroona Telecentre. |
Cr. John Salerian JP

John has lived all his life in Waroona and he and his wife Val reside on a farming property in Waroona and John has been and still is involved in many aspects of the community. John has promised to work towards all ratepayers and residents having equal opportunities. |
Cr. Laurie Snell

Laurie has been a resident of the Shire of Waroona for over 40 years and she and her husband John reside on a family farm west of Waroona. Laurie and John have 3 children and one of whom is also farming in the district. Laurie is actively involed in a variety of local organisations and is the author of the Waroona Shire History Book "Drakesbrook Days and Waroona Years". |
Cr. Craig Wright

Craig is a long time resident of the Shire with his family moving to the shire in the early 70s. Craig was educated at the Waroona Junior High School. Craig is actively involved with all types of sporting and social activities in and around the town and he feels he can offer a strong and effective voice for working families in the Electorate. Craig is currently employed by Alcoa at the Willowdale Mine. |
Cr. Noel Dew

Noel was originally elected to represent the Coastal Ward on the Waroona Shire Council in 1999. Noel has been a resident of Preston Beach for many years with his wife Irene. Noel is extremely passionate about protecting the environment especially the beautiful but fragile coastline we have in the Shire of Waroona. Noel is always prepared to listen to and discuss ratepayers concerns and act in the best interests of the people of the Shire of Waroona. He has a positive attitude towards the future and works hard at obtaining the best result for all concerned. |
