Waroona Youth Advisory Council

Youth Advisory Councils provide a forum for young people to get together and discuss youth issues, initiatives and projects. They can also advise Governments on a wide range of Youth Issues.

Waroona's YAC consists of a group of 10-20 young people from a variety of backgrounds who represent their community/area.

Waroona's YAC meet on the 3rd Monday of each month at 4.00pm. Each Meeting is held at the Waroona Community Health and Resource Centre.

During 2008 the members of the Waroona Youth Advisory Council organised and assisted with several events in the community

  • Movies under the Stars (annual)
  • Waroona's Got Talent
  • National Youth Week (annual)
  • Waroona Show
  • YouthCARE fundraising
  • Australia Day

Two Delegates attended the YACtion conference in Perth

Members have also completed their Certificate II in Leadership Development & Business through Challenger TAFE

YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL MEMBERS SHINE IN LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

A function was held on Monday 16 February 2009 at the Waroona Community Centre for the awarding of certificates from Challenger TAFE to members of the Youth Advisory Council. Certificates were presented by Mr Murray Cowper MLA and Cr Noel Dew to eight members and Waroona Community Centre Youth Worker Michelle Paley who have been studying for their Certificates II in Leadership Development and Business through Challenger TAFE as part of a Leadership project.   For media release please click here
