The Shire of Waroona is committed to providing effective waste management service to the residents of Waroona and surrounding areas.
The management of Council's rubbish and recycling collection service and the management of the refuse site is handled by contractors.
The Shire encourages businesses and residents to recycle wherever possible.
A compulsory weekly rubbish removal service is conducted by contractors Cleanaway throughout the townsites of Waroona, Hamel, Preston Beach, also the Old Coast Road area, Tuart Grove and Armstrong Hills subdivision.
The service is conducted every Monday and Tuesday.
Monday - Old Coast Road, Tuart Grove, Armstrong Hills subdivision and Preston Beach, Hamel Rural.
Tuesday - Waroona and Hamel.
Please ensure that your bins are on the verge by 6.00am positioned half a metre apart and one metre back from the kerb. The service provides for one bin per household per week. Each resident has a yearly bin charge of $260 including rubbish/ recycling collection and tip passes. This charge is subject to change at the review of the Council's budget.
Damages or Missed Bins
If your bin gets damaged or stolen in any way, please contact the Shire of Waroona on 9733 7800. There is no charge for the repairs or replacement of bins however only one green and one recycle bin will be issued per household at a time.
If your bin is on the verge on time but missed out during the collection, Cleanaway may be able to return to pick it up if they are advised on the same day. Please contact the Shire of Waroona on 9733 7800.
The Shire of Waroona's recycling service is carried out on a fortnightly basis to everyone who receives a bin service. Your yellow top bin will be picked up fortnightly on the same day that your green bin is picked up. Bins must be out by 6.00am

The following Items can be recycled:
- Glass bottles and jars
- Drink cartons, including long life cartons, please rinse.
- Newspaper, office paper, magazines & junk mail
- Steel and aluminum can including aerosols
- Plastic bottles only with 1, 2 or 3 symbol on bottom (remove the lids)
- All other cardboard, remove contents and liners, please flatten
Items that can't be recycled:
- No China, porcelain, pottery or other types of glasses
- No lids
- No phone books
