The Waroona Community Precinct aims to revitalise the town centre, acting as a vibrant, central hub for residents and an attractive ‘stop and stay’ destination for visitors to the area.
The community has been heavily involved in the planning and fundraising for the Precinct, with the Shire working hard to deliver an accessible space that combines heritage, culture, art and recreation for all ages.
Planned features of the Precinct include:
- Fenced toddler play area
- Junior playground
- Shaded picnic area with BBQs
- Grassed open space
- Events and pop-up area
- Noongar six seasons garden
Construction will commence in the first half of 2023 and is planned to be completed by the end of the year. Some elements of the Precinct will be developed over the following years as resources allow.
The Precinct has been jointly funded by the Federal Government, the State Government through the Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and Lotterywest, the Shire of Waroona, the Alcoa Waroona Sustainability Fund and the Lions Club of Waroona.
