Celebrate Christmas in Waroona

The magic of Christmas has arrived in Waroona with five different locations decorated with festive light installations.

An initiative of the Waroona Community Lights Committee, the Christmas-themed lights include favourites such as giant angels, reindeer and stars, as well as a new permanent light installation on the rotunda at Drakesbrook Centennial Park.

The lights trail starts at the Waroona Visitor Centre, where residents and visitors can marvel at the giant Christmas tree, which is turning up the sparkle this year with new decorations. The fresh lights were recently installed by Western Power and Curtis Electrical, who generously donated their time to this community project.

After walking or driving up South Western Highway, there are plenty of photo opportunities on offer with the decorative lights at Waroona Memorial Hall, Waroona War Memorial and the Waroona Landcare Centre. Then finish up the trail at Drakesbrook Centennial Park, where the entire gazebo has become a feature installation for the whole family to enjoy.

Shire President Mike Walmsley praised the efforts of the Waroona Community Lights Committee, whose fundraising and creativity have led to this annual crowd-pleasing celebration.

“There’s nothing more magical than seeing the community out and about together in the evening enjoying the Christmas lights. Thank you to all the volunteers – and particularly resident Trish Morris – for lighting up the town with festive cheer,” Cr Walmsley said.

The Seventh Annual Community Christmas Lights can be seen in the following locations:

1. Christmas Tree – next to the Waroona Visitor Centre Information Bay, 37 South Western Highway
2. Stars, reindeer and Red & Green lighting installation – Waroona Memorial Hall, South Western Highway
3. Angels – Waroona Landcare Centre, 93 South Western Highway
4. Bauble lights – Waroona War Memorial, corner of South Western Highway & Parnell Street
5. Rotunda lighting display – Drakesbrook Centennial Park, 151 South Western Highway

The lights can be enjoyed until Thursday, 12 January 2023.

The Community Christmas Lights are supported by the Alcoa Waroona Sustainability Fund and the Shire of Waroona, in partnership with the community.
