Councillor Vacancy to Remain Unfilled for Now

Council has had an elected member vacancy since February 2022 and is currently in the process of reviewing the number of Councillors for the Shire of Waroona. Currently there are eight Councillor positions (including the Shire President), but only seven filled.  

The Shire has sought and received approval from the Electoral Commissioner to defer filling the current vacancy until the next October 2023 Local Government Ordinary Elections.  By then the elected member numbers review will be complete and the Shire will know whether it needs to fill the vacancy or not.
