FIRST CEO RESOURCE SHARING COMMITTEE HELD
The working relationship between Waroona and Murray took a step closer recently with the first meeting of the CEO Resource Sharing Committee meeting being held on 1 October 2019.
Both the Shires of Waroona and Murray agreed in August to develop further resource sharing between the two by sharing the services of Chief Executive Officer, Dean Unsworth.
Through the goodwill already generated through the successful sharing of Information Technology Services, Rangers and Health services, with the recent retirement of previous CEO Ian Curley, successful negotiations were held to drive efficiencies with the sharing of the CEO.
Crs Mike Walmsley, Larry Scott and Laurie Snell joined three Councillors from Murray to review the short, medium and long-term objectives of the role and to identify strategies to focus on the long-term sustainability of both Councils.
Shire President Cr Mike Walmsley was enthusiastic about the partnership following the first meeting.
"Both Waroona and Murray have so much in common, and by working together to share resources, look at improved and efficient processes, joint lobbying and driving economic development opportunities I feel that we have a very strong long-term future".
"Our new CEO will shortly be announcing a series of community workshops to assist in the development of a long-term new Strategic Plan for the Shire of Waroona".
To work together with Murray we are already making a significant saving on a management wage, but there will be many other benefits that can be achieved by working together with Murray, while ensuring our independence for the long term".
