SHIRE SEEKS INTERESTED RESIDENTS TO JOIN WAROONA TOWN CENTRE TASK FORCE

The recent community workshops held in November and December identified a clear need for Council to focus on reinvigorating and improving the amenity of the Waroona Town Centre main street.

To help guide this, the Shire of Waroona is inviting eight (8) interested persons who can add value to this task force and help improve and upgrade the town centre.

The Terms of Reference for the Task Force will be to:

  • Audit the 2003 Waroona Town Centre Strategy;
  • Provide input into a redevelopment strategy;
  • Review all ideas, concepts, projects and initiatives;
  • Act as a liaison with relevant persons and the community;
  • Assist in developing a Draft Strategy for community input; and
  • Review public consultation and present a final draft to Council for consideration.

Membership will be based on skills, experience, broad community service and contacts.

Shire Chief Executive Officer, Dean Unsworth said that this work will help inform how we can make the main street vibrant and rejuvenated.

“The community workshops held recently made it very clear that focus on the main business district of Waroona was an absolute priority, and hence we want to get on with the planning as soon as possible”.

“Selection will be merit based, so applications should provide their professional and community experience, and any other attributes that would add-value to the Task Force”.

Those interested in wishing to apply as a member of the Task Force should write to:

Chief Executive Officer, PO Box 20, Waroona, 6215, or email warshire@waroona.wa.gov.au, by Friday 24 January 2020.
