Waroona’s Creative Workshops: ‘It’s a Wrap’

The Shire of Waroona held its final WAPHA funded creative workshop in Waroona this morning with a number of lucky ladies learning how to make bees wax wraps.

Beeswax wraps are an amazing eco-sustainable solution to replace single use plastic wrap.  They are washable and reusable lasting around 6 – 12 months and can be used to cover almost anything.

The workshop, facilitated by the Little Farm owner Maree Ellis, was held at the Waroona Creative Arts Centre on Thursday 25 June 2020.  The morning started with a very informative and interesting talk on the honey bee wax process and the many uses and benefits of using the wraps in place of plastic containers or plastic wraps.

Workshop attendees were shown how to prepare the wax before melting it onto cotton material squares to create the end product.   Each participant was able to keep their new eco-wraps along with a generous take home kit.

The workshop concluded with a cuppa, a chat and light morning tea which was enjoyed by all.  Thank you to the Waroona Creative Arts Centre committee and to facilitator Maree Ellis, for running a very successful workshop.
