Youth Fusion ’22 Program Underway

5 May 2022

Young people aged 12-17 years will have the opportunity to learn fun new skills and connect with community resources during the Shire of Waroona’s Youth Fusion ’22 program.

The event series – which has been initiated through the Local Drug Action Team program – commences this month and will offer free-of-charge, fortnightly activities until December 2022.

The first event, Outdoor Explorers, is being led by the Mandurah Scouts at Lake Clifton Reserve from 5-7pm on Friday 20 May 2022. Attendees will learn orienteering and navigation skills while playing outdoor games. The session will be wrapped up with a pizza dinner for all participants.

Shire President Mike Walmsley said the Youth Fusion ’22 program offered an abundance of opportunities for young people to try out different activities in Waroona and Lake Clifton.

“Becoming a youth engaged and supportive community was identified by residents as important during the development of Waroona’s Strategic Community Plan 2020 – 2030,” Cr Walmsley said.

“We are proud to be delivering such a full program of youth engagement activities in partnership with our many valued community stakeholders and encourage as many young people as possible to participate.”

The Shire gratefully acknowledges the Alcohol and Drug Foundation for supporting Youth Fusion ‘22.

A full program of events will be added to the Shire’s events calendar at waroona.wa.gov.au/events as they are confirmed.
