What will be included in the Precinct?

The Community Precinct will include: 

  • Playgrounds with seating and shade that will be a great spot for all the young families.
  • Open grassed areas for community gatherings, events and markets or somewhere to just rest and relax.
  • An all-ages skate park and pump track to really get your adrenalin going!
  • The Big Shed will have a facelift so it can be used for all sorts of community activities.
  • Accessible toilets, pathways, shelter, BBQs and seating.
  • Retention of all the big trees and carefully planting a whole lot more. 

Where is the Precinct?

The Community Precinct will be located opposite the Memorial Hall on land between South West Highway and Fouracre Street, extending from the southern side of the Vibe Petrol Station down and across to where the former Scout Hall is located.  The reserve along Fouracre Street from Palmerston Street to Coronation Road is also included in the planning for the Precinct.

Who owns the land?

Some of the land is Shire reserve and other lots are freehold, recently purchased by the Shire for the Precinct.

Where is the planning up to?

As at November 2021, there has been much work done on design, site assessments and securing funding.

Landscape Architect firm, EPCAD, has been working on several versions of the Concept Design informed by feedback from the Town Centre Task Force, community surveys and workshops, and input from Shire staff and Council.

How is the project to be funded?

Almost $4m in funding has been secured for the Precinct including from the Alcoa Waroona Sustainability Fund, WA Government, Lotterywest, the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund, the Shire of Waroona, the Lions Club of Waroona and local youth fundraising.

When will construction start?

Construction is planned to commence in the first half of 2022 and may take around 12 months to complete. Some elements of the Precinct will develop over the following years as resources allow.

Professionals Waroona invites expressions of interest for the future use (Commercial Lease) of 93 South Western Highway, Waroona "Irrigation Offices".

The site sits within the Waroona Town Community Precinct and is intended to be part of the revitalisation of Waroona Town by servicing the new precinct as well as passers-by.

Professionals Waroona are seeking an enterprising operator to bring the building to life as part of the Shire of Waroona's vision for Waroona Town
