Bulk Rubbish Collection Complete
Posted 14 December 2021 Bulk Rubbish Collection Complete

Bulk Rubbish Collection Complete The Shire of Waroona’s biennial bulk rubbish collection is now complete. This year, which was the first time the collection has been carried out by a contractor rather than by Shire crews, was completed in 7 days which included a quick second sweep of all areas to collect anything missed in the first pick up. Shire staff are very happy with the outcome and feel that the switch to using a contractor has been a complete success. The next collection will be approximately two years from now. Dates will be advised well in advance. The Shire would like to thank those that participated for following the guidelines and accepting the changed timing of the collection.

Media Release - Drakesbrook Weir Barbeque Facilities
Posted 30 November 2021 Media Release - Drakesbrook Weir Barbeque Facilities

In 2020/21, faced with obsolete and unrepairable gas barbecues, the Shire of Waroona made the decision to apply to Western Power to have electricity connected to the recreation area of the Drakesbrook Weir. The connection to power will allow not only the installation of modern electric barbecues but will also open up other opportunities such as events, lighting and parks reticulation. Due to circumstances beyond the Shire’s control the installation of the new power, which is Western Power’s responsibility, faced a number of delays however Western Power has indicated that works have been scheduled and should be complete by the end of January 2022. It is unfortunate that barbeque facilities won’t be available for the Christmas and New Year period however the Shire will endeavour to have the barbeques set up and ready for when Western Power commissions the power connection.
