At its September Ordinary Meeting, Council adopted a reviewed Corporate Business Plan for the period 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2025. This four year plan titled ‘Towards Waroona 2030' will activate the objectives of the Strategic Community Plan, and informs the annual budget process to ensure the priorities of the community are strategically aligned and affordable.

More than 20 years’ service as a councillor for the Shire of Waroona has seen Cr Noel Dew receive one of only 6 Eminent Service Awards from the Western Australia Local Government Association (WALGA). This award is for personal commitment, eminent service and contribution to the local government section or WALGA. Cr Dew was first elected to the Waroona Shire Council in 1999, and has retained this position since. Throughout these 22 years, Cr Dew has served on numerous committees, taskforces, advisory bodies and working groups. Cr Dew has also served as Shire President for 3 terms between 2007 and 2009, 2011 and 2013, and 2015 and 2017, and as Deputy Shire President for 1 term between 2003 and 2005.

A preliminary concept plan was prepared for Waroona’s new Community Precinct in 2020. Following community feedback and preparation of the Waroona Revitalisation Strategy, we are reviewing this preliminary plan to ensure it aligns with the overall vision for Waroona and as far as possible captures the diverse needs of our community. For the initial stage of this review we have prepared three high level sketches which provide options on how the various elements of the precinct could be structured.

The Shire has prepared a draft Foreshore Management Plan for Preston Beach. This plan reviews and updates the previous plan prepared in 2002. A copy of the draft plan can be viewed at waroona.wa.gov.au under the Consultation and Public Notices tab. The plan is also available for viewing at the Shire’s office at 52 Hesse Street, Waroona, between 8.30am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday.
