Looking for a mechanical role that works around your life? Permanent and flexible employment options?
Perhaps you want to be home every night, work a few days around your existing rotation, manage school drop-off or pick-up, or you just want to run your own workshop.
The Shire of Waroona is seeking a suitably qualified or experienced person to coordinate the servicing, maintenance and repair of its vehicles, plant and equipment.
We are seeking ongoing appointment but are flexible about how the role is structured. Options may include permanent full-time or part-time employment, flexible start and finish times, school hours, or casual work that complements an existing roster.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Depending on your qualifications and experience, you may:
- inspect, service and repair vehicles, plant and equipment;
- diagnose faults and determine the appropriate repair approach;
- manage preventative maintenance and servicing schedules;
- coordinate contractors and specialist repair providers;
- maintain service and repair records and order parts; and
- contribute to plant replacement planning and specifications.
You do not need to complete every type of repair. We welcome applications from light vehicle, heavy-duty and mobile plant mechanics, as well as experienced servicing personnel who can undertake work within their capabilities and arrange specialist support when required.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You will have a relevant mechanical trade qualification or substantial experience and competence appropriate to the role. You will be organised, safety-conscious and able to work independently and effectively with employees, contractors and suppliers.
Experience with heavy vehicles, mobile plant, civil construction equipment, hydraulics, auto-electrical work, welding or fabrication will be well regarded but is not required in every area.
WHY JOIN US?
Located between Mandurah and Bunbury, Waroona offers an attractive country lifestyle between the Darling Scarp and the Indian Ocean.
You will join a friendly and supportive team, take ownership of the Shire’s workshop and maintenance program, and undertake meaningful work that supports the local community. Full-time employees may also access a nine-day fortnight.
Where applicable, employment will be offered under the Shire of Waroona Outside Workforce Enterprise Agreement 2022, within Tradesperson Levels 1.1 to 1.4. Where the agreed role or employment arrangement does not appropriately fit within the EA classification structure, the Shire may consider an individually negotiated employment contract, subject to applicable legislation and industrial instruments.
