Tender Open for Construction of the Waroona Community Precinct

The next phase of development on the Waroona Community Precinct is a big step closer, with the Shire of Waroona advertising the tender for landscape and civil works.

Earlier this year, the Shire finalised detailed designs and was granted approvals to progress the $4.23 million dollar project.

The tender includes the construction of the highly anticipated skate park and pump track, as well as play equipment, picnic areas and landscaping, including a Six Seasons Noongar garden.

Shire President Mike Walmsley said that once the tender was awarded, construction could take place, with an expected opening in December 2023.

“The local community contributed to fundraising for the Precinct and I know there will be a great deal of enthusiasm to see construction moving along. We foresee completion by the end of next year, with a fabulous opening party and ribbon cutting celebration,” Cr Walmsley said.

Once complete, the Precinct will link the Waroona town centre from the South Western Highway through to Fouracre Street, providing a recreational area for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy. As part of the Shire’s plan to revitalise the town centre, the Precinct will act as a vibrant, central hub for residents and an attractive ‘stop and stay’ destination for visitors to the area.

Tenderers will have December and January to prepare their bids, which will then be assessed, with a recommendation presented to Council in February for approval. Construction will take place through 2023, with the Waroona Community Precinct expected to be open to the public in December 2023.

The Precinct has been jointly funded by the Federal Government, the State Government through the Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and Lotterywest, the Shire of Waroona, Alcoa and the Lions Club of Waroona.
