Drakesbrook Public Cemetery goes Online
At the October Ordinary Council Meeting, held on the 25th October 2022, Council resolved to implement Chronicle Digital Cemetery Software. Chronicle is a digital mapping and database software solution that provides communities with the opportunity to honour and celebrate their departed through a digital platform. The system creates a digital mirror of the cemetery which allows the Shire to manage cemetery records and share them online. This will allow to public to use their digital device to:
- Pinpoint the plot location of ancestors.
- Search by name or by date of birth or death.
- Follow a guided walk to the exact burial location.
- View headstone photos and inscriptions.
- Identify vacant plots and reserve the right of interment.
Walk to grave feature:
In addition to the above, for a small fee, Chronicle provides the community with the opportunity to create an online memorial for their loved one with “Life Chronicle”. Life Chronicle provides the public with the ability to share stories of their loved one’s life.

To gather the data that is needed to create the Chronicle mapping system, an aerial drone survey of the cemetery will use geospatial engineering services to map the cemetery and provide each plot with a unique ID to create an accurate plot map. The aerial drone survey has been scheduled for the week of the 14th to 18th November 2022 and will be completed by a licensed drone surveyor from Master Flight Drone Services. The survey will be completed in one day, to be determined dependent on weather, and will take place between the hours of approximately 11am and 1pm. Access to the cemetery will be prohibited during this time.
It is anticipated that Chronicle will be available for public use by approximately April 2023.
