Applications for the Alcoa Waroona Micro Grants Fund Now Open

The Alcoa Waroona Micro Grants Fund (AWMGF) is now open, with not-for-profit groups within the Shire of Waroona eligible to apply.

Grant funding of up to $2,000 per project is on offer for programs and events that align with the Shire of Waroona 2030 Strategic Community Plan.

Formed through a partnership between Alcoa of Australia and the Shire of Waroona, the last round of the AWMGF helped to support six projects, with the Waroona Lions Club, Waroona Football & Netball Club, Croquetwest, Preston Beach Golf Club, Waroona Agricultural Society and St Joseph's School being successful recipients of funding.

Shire President Mike Walmsley said due to the high level of funding support already provided to the community through the AWMGF and the larger Alcoa Waroona Sustainability Fund, this round of funding would be extremely competitive.

“This is an ideal opportunity to help top up funding for worthwhile projects that need a little additional support. It is expected that organisations will already have some contributing funding in place,” Cr Walmsley said.

Potential applicants are advised to discuss their ideas with the Shire’s Community development team prior to making an application for funding. Applications for the AWMGF are open until 4.30pm on Tuesday, 15 August 2023.

For further information or to check your eligibility, please visit the Shire of Waroona website or contact the Shire on 9733 7800.

The Waroona Creative Art Centre was one of the successful recipients of AWMGF funding in 2022.
