The Shire of Waroona is proud to announce that it will be hosting an Emergency Services Recognition and Thank You Dinner on 18 May 2023, during National Volunteer Week.

The annual event is a way for the Shire to recognise the tireless commitment of emergency service volunteers who donate their time and efforts to saving lives and protecting the local community.

Shire President Mike Walmsley said the event was a small way to express the community’s gratitude for their ongoing commitment and sacrifice.

"We are incredibly grateful to our volunteer fire and emergency services brigade, our volunteer bush fire brigades and our volunteer ambulance officers who are supported tremendously by our local police force. These volunteers selflessly dedicate their time to keep our community safe,” Cr Walmsley said.

The Shire of Waroona consists of a fire prone rural area, and as such, volunteer service organisations play a vital role in protecting residents, local infrastructure and natural assets.

Approximately 100 invited guests will join the Shire, the Hon Andrew Hastie MP and Robyn Clarke MLA to enjoy a complimentary 3-course meal and refreshments at the Waroona Bowling Club.

The Emergency Services Recognition and Thank You Dinner has been made possible by Volunteering WA as part of the National Volunteer Week celebrations and is funded by Lotterywest.
