From 1 July 2022 penalties apply for the sale, supply or distribution of drinking straws that are banned under the Environmental Protection (Prohibited Plastics and Balloons)
Regulations 2018.
Penalties also apply to any person who supplies or manufactures drinking straws and knowingly provides false or misleading information about its composition or whether or not it is a banned plastic drinking straw.
