Young people aged 10-25 years within the Shire of Waroona will have the opportunity to attend three free events to celebrate youth and their contribution to the Shire during Youth Week 2023.

Youth Week Pop-Up Activities at the Waroona Recreation and Aquatic Centre will be held from 9am – 12pm on Monday 17 April. Over 10s will be able to participate in a variety of activities, including a cupcake workshop, mini golf, giant lawn games, face painting and skateboard deck painting.

The second event, Mid-week Mindfulness, will be held in Centennial Park from 4pm – 6pm on Wednesday 19 April. Young people can enjoy yoga and meditation with a qualified instructor and enjoy art activities, including Aboriginal art, with local young artist facilitators.

The final Youth Week event will be a Disco Party to be held at the Waroona Recreation and Aquatic Centre on Friday 21 April from 6pm – 8.30pm. All participants will receive a lolly pack, with the Waroona Leos also providing food and refreshments while participants boogie away.

Shire President Mike Walmsley said the Shire’s Youth Week activities offered young people the opportunity to socialise and learn new skills during the school holidays.

“These events have been planned in partnership with young people in our community, empowering our youngest residents to create celebrations that are meaningful to them. The three action-packed activities are free to attend and are sure to offer something to suit everyone’s interests,” Cr Walmsley said.

The Shire gratefully acknowledges the Department of Communities and Alcoa of Australia for supporting Youth Week 2023.
